The mother of a nine-week-old baby whose body was found in suburban Adelaide earlier this month has now been charged with murder.
Police and ambulance crews were called to Woodville in Adelaide’s north-west earlier in December after receiving “reports of an unresponsive baby”.
“Despite the efforts of paramedics, the baby was pronounced deceased at the scene,” police said in a statement.
“[Yesterday] a 40-year-old woman from Woodville was charged with murder.”
The woman, who is the child’s mother, will face a bedside court hearing this afternoon.
She is currently being detained at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital under the Mental Health Act.
Police have not said what gender the baby was, nor where the baby was found.
