Volunteer TeleCHAT Caller – Toowoomba – Australian Red Cross (Volunteers)

  • Ongoing opportunity for a period of at least 6-12 months
  • 2 hour shift per week, with flexibility within weekdays.

The program

Having good social connections are essential for all aspects of health, especially as we age. Red Cross supports older people who live alone or who have few social connections, including people with disabilities and mental health concerns.

Red Cross social connection programs match those who are socially isolated with a caring and friendly volunteer. The Telechat service provides this connection through weekly social phone calls that build confidence and resilience for the participant through sustained friendship and support.

The opportunity

This role suits someone over the age of 18 that has a high level of English and is a great chatter! It would also suit someone who has availability on weekdays during the hours of 9 am and 3 pm.

The impact

As a Telechat volunteer, you’ll brighten the life of someone suffering vulnerability by offering them company and friendship. Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the World’s largest humanitarian network.
