Three girls have been arrested over a large fire that caused $2 million worth of damage to an Adelaide apartment building and hospitalised three people.

The trio, aged 12, 12 and 13, were arrested by South Australia Police overnight following the fire at the corner of Peachey and Curtis roads in Munno Para yesterday.

Metropolitan and country fire service crews and paramedics responded to the fire in the three-storey building about 4:45pm.

Two occupants were taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.

One CFS volunteer was taken to hospital suffering heat stress.

Police said today the girls were charged with arson and acts to endanger life.

They were bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Youth Court in November.

Fire investigators attended the scene along with Northern District CIB detectives.

The Country Fire Service initially estimated damage to the building at $2 million.

It took 13 fire engines and 52 firefighters an hour to control the blaze.
