Tear Gas Fired From Drone During Gaza Protests

An unmanned aerial vehicle was seen firing tear gas canisters on Monday, May 14, near al-Awla camp in east Gaza, as reports emerged that Israel Defense Forces were using the technology to disperse Palestinians at large protests near the border. As many as 50 people were killed and more than 1,000 injured as protests by Palestinians intensified on Monday in Gaza, the day the United States officially opened its newly relocated Embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv. Israel said it deployed military strikes to “protect its borders” and “security.” Israel began using drones to dispense tear gas in March, in similar situations and circumstances, the Times of Israel reported.
