Sydney’s Bay Run at centre of another alleged female jogger assault
Sydney’s Bay Run’s reputation has been tarnished with another case of alleged sexual touching and assault of a female jogger.
A 44-year-old man has been charged after allegedly inappropriately touching a 49-year-old woman running near the Iron Cove Bridge on Victoria Road, Rozelle.
The alleged assault happened last Saturday at about 5:30pm.
After the incident the woman confronted her attacker, who responded by pushing her in the face.
Another woman then intervened and the man left the area on foot.
The Leichardt Police Area Command was notified and commenced an investigation, arresting a man yesterday at a home in Lilyfield.
He was taken to Newtown Police Station and charged with sexually touching another person without consent and common assault.
He was refused bail to appear at Newtown Local Court yesterday where he was formally refused bail to reappear at Central Local Court on Monday.
The incident comes just four months after another man known as the “Bay Run flasher” was sentenced to 17 months’ jail for targeting women on the popular running track.
Father of one Andrew James Grant, 29, was charged with assault, indecency, stalking and intimidation after flashing seven women and asking for sex.
