Australia’s Fair Work Ombudsman has launched legal action against food delivery giant Foodora, accusing it of underpaying its workers by calling them independent contractors.
The lawsuit, which was filed in the Federal Court, involves three Foodora workers from Sydney and Melbourne.
The ombudsman alleged that between 2015 and 2016, Foodora breached sham contracting laws by telling the workers they were independent contractors when they were in fact employees.
Foodora was contacted for comment.
More to come.
