Olivia Newton-John says ‘she’s doing great’ amid reports she has just weeks to live
Olivia Newton-John has released a video in the wake of reports she is seriously unwell and only has weeks to live.
The Grease star and four-time Grammy winner posted the video on her Facebook and Twitter accounts.
“I just want to say the rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated,” she said.
“I’m doing great and I want to wish all of you the happiest, healthiest 2019 as possible.
“Thank you all for your wonderful love and support.”
In 2017, Newton-John revealed she was battling cancer for a second time.
Postponing US and Canadian tour dates, the singer and actress said back pain she was suffering was actually breast cancer that had metastasised to her sacrum.
The British-born Australian star first battled breast cancer 25 years ago and has since used her own experience to promote awareness about the disease, opening the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in The Austin Hospital in 2014.
In an interview with the Australian Women’s Weekly in December last year, Newton-John said cancer was “not on my mind constantly”.
“I do all the things that I should be doing on a regular basis but I like to support other people because I’ve been there before and I am still here,” she said.
“I think that gives other people hope.”
