Nat Fyfe will be ineligible for the 2018 Brownlow Medal after he failed to have his one-week suspension overturned by the AFL tribunal.

Fyfe, the 2015 Brownlow Medal winner, was found guilty of making intentional contact with the head of Collingwood’s Levi Greenwood at a lengthy AFL tribunal hearing.

He had been hoping to challenge the sanction on the grounds his conduct was careless rather than intentional.

Fyfe will miss the Dockers’ fixture with Adelaide in Perth on Sunday.

More to come.
