The Melton man walked to a nearby pub to raise the alarm and is in a serious condition in hospital.
In a separate incident, two teenagers were injured during a fight in a shopping centre carpark in Epping, in Melbourne’s north.
One of the 17-year-old boys was stabbed in the chest and was taken to hospital in a serious condition. The other boy has minor injuries.
Police are appealing for witnesses.
Last night fire crews were also called to a suspicious house fire at Heidelberg Heights, in Melbourne’s north-east, where a vacant house was destroyed.
