Man dead after shooting in Geraldton

A man has died after a shooting at a business in the WA Mid West town of Geraldton.

Emergency services were called to Flores Street in the suburb of Webberton about 12:20pm with reports of shots fired.
Police have confirmed a man entered the business and fired a shot from a gun, killing a man.
WA Regional Commander Jo McCabe said police are searching for Rodney Peter Vlahov, 48, who fled the scene in a white four-wheel drive.
“This tragic incident has shocked the Geraldton community and our thoughts are with the deceased man’s family at this time,” Commander McCabe said.
“Members of the public who see Mr Vlahov or his vehicle are urged not to approach but to immediately call police.
She described the investigation as “fluid”.
“At this stage we are unsure as to the relationship with the victim,” Commander McCabe said.
“What I can say is Mr Vlahov and his family are well-known to the Geraldton community.”
“Every resource available has been deployed to Geraldton and we will give it out upmost priorities.”
A firearm was recovered from the scene, however police have not ruled out Mr Vlahov having access to other firearms.
Mr Vlahov and his two brothers and sister lost their father last year. All three brothers are farmers in the Chapman Valley area, north-east of Geraldton.
Mr Vlahov is described as fair skinned, approximately 175 centimetres tall, of medium build and has brown hair and blue eyes.
The vehicle’s registration number is 1BBO 343.
It is believed he may be heading in the direction of Chapman Valley.
