About the Role

Reporting to the Facilities Manager you will be responsible for day to day maintenance requirements of properties within the property portfolio and assisting with grounds and gardens maintenance to create a safe and pleasant environment for residents, visitors, staff and others.

You will assist in ensuring each residents safety, security, dignity, privacy and well-being at all times; and actively contribute to the promotion of best practice in WHS.

Properties

The Facilities Manager currently has responsibility for the following portfolio of properties:

  • Over 80 residential properties (mainly in Brisbane but also in surrounding areas);
  • 2 medium sized apartment buildings (Brisbane, Gold Coast);
  • 2 mixed use/commercial buildings;
  • Shared responsibility for certain areas of the All Hallows School site and the St Vincents Nudgee site.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Trade qualification in a general construction/maintenance trade (carpentry, cabinet-making, plumbing, electrical, etc) preferred;
  • Previous industry experience is desirable;
  • General maintenance and handyman skills;
  • Experience with the use and maintenance of power tools and equipment;
  • Knowledge of BCAs and safe work practices;
  • Able to complete SWMS as required;
  • Ability to read plans;
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Outlook, Excel);
  • Ability to work in effective liaison with management;
  • Ability to work closely with a small team and be able to follow directions;
  • Cooperative and respectful towards management and internal clients;
  • Good communication skills and legible writing;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Empathy with and understanding of the needs of older people;
  • Ability to work autonomously and with minimal/no supervision;
  • Open Drivers License
  • Ability to prioritise;
  • Ability to use initiative;
  • Honest, reliable, punctual and tolerant;
  • Clean and well presented.

Desirable

  • Construction Blue Card
  • Trade qualification
  • Working at Height Licence
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Blue Card or ability to obtain

Duties (not limited to)

  • General household maintenance and repair works;
  • Minor electrical work, eg. changing bulbs and starters;
  • Landscaping and garden maintenance;
  • Minor flooring repairs including tiles, grouting and carpet tile replacement;
  • Adjusting doors and closers;
  • Door lock changes;
  • Painting and graffiti removal;
  • Cleaning as required;
  • Minor plumbing;
  • Rubbish removal;
  • Minor concrete or render repairs.

Salary

For the right candidate, a salary package to be negotiated circa $65,000 plus super, provision of motor vehicle and tools, and mobile phone.
