Helicopter crashes on Barrier Reef pontoon in North Queensland

A helicopter has crashed at Hardy Reef Pontoon in the Whitsundays in North Queensland.

Five people are believed to have been on board.

The Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) sent a chopper to the pontoon to treat two people believed to have been injured.

QAS said they received a call about the accident at 4:15pm.

The crash site is about 65 kilometres north-east of the Whitsundays.

The police boat Damien Leeding and other vessels are still en route to the site.
