Eggs recalled in Sydney after almost two dozen cases of salmonella poisoning

A line of eggs is being recalled after more than two dozen people in Sydney were diagnosed with salmonella poisoning.

Consumers in New South Wales are warned not to eat Glendenning Farm eggs from cartons or bulk trays with best-before dates across September and October 1.

The products were sold in small independent supermarkets and retailers in metropolitan Sydney.

They are being voluntarily recalled by the brand owner, Eggz on the Run.

The NSW Food Authority is investigating 23 confirmed cases of salmonella across Sydney.

It has urged people who bought the recalled eggs to throw them away or return them for a refund.

“Either bin or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund,” NSW Food Authority said in a statement on Saturday.

“You do not require proof of purchase for a recalled item.”

Salmonella symptoms include fever, headaches and vomiting and can last up to a week.

Anyone with immediate health concerns is urged to contact a medical professional.
