Champion mare Winx is chasing a place in the history books via an unprecedented fourth Cox Plate victory this weekend, and after storming home to win the Turnbull Stakes recently will enter the race as hot favourite.

That Flemington victory took her winning streak to a remarkable 28 races.

A closer look at that record reveals that while Winx’s average win at Group 2 level is just 1.45 lengths, the chart below shows she turns it on when it matters in the Group 1 races — where her margins rise to 3.36 lengths on average.
