Maybe you’ve had enough of Harry and Meghan by now, but the fact is a lot of people love to watch a Royal wedding.
William and Kate’s 2011 marriage ceremony remains the most-watched free-to-air TV program since 2008, with 4.09 million viewers across three channels, excluding live streams.
The chart below has many more shows from the first half of the decade than the last, suggesting we’re not watching live TV in huge numbers as much as we used to.
And none of the most-watched programs in the last 10 years has topped Charles and Diana’s wedding in 1981, viewed by a reported 6 million Australians (around 40 per cent of the population).
