The economy, healthcare costs and President Donald Trump are top of mind for many Americans as they head to the polls for Tuesday’s midterm elections.
With a number of tight House races, the issues where the parties are split might be most telling.
Two subjects on Republicans’ minds — immigration and taxation — also frequently star in Mr Trump’s Twitter feed, whereas climate change, which sits as third most important to Democrats, barely rates a mention at last place for Republicans.
It’s worth noting the US Studies Centre poll was conducted in early October, so there’s a chance things have shifted in the past few weeks, which saw a mass shooting fuelled by anti-Semitism and an increase in vitriolic immigration rhetoric.
Democrats name the cost of healthcare as their top issue, while for Republicans, it’s the economy.
