THE ultimate family pleasure pad has sold for more than $2 million, setting a new street record in one of Highton’s most exclusive pockets.

A local family paid $2.15 million for the tri-level home at 116-118 Rivergum Drive.

The pre-Christmas sale sets a new benchmark for the riverside location, beating another $1.4 million sale in the street earlier this year.

What’s next for Geelong’s property market as loss-making sales hits 16-year low

Ivan and Maree Volarevic, part of the family behind Geelong-based home decor empire Volare Concepts, created the five-bedroom playground to host their extended family.

It’s stacked with amusements ranging from an infinity pool, underground home theatre, synthetic turf sports area, an in-ground trampoline, gym and steam room.

McGrath, Geelong agent Ross Bywater said the new owners were a family relocating from Wandana Heights.

“They looked at it and then they went on holidays and decided to buy it,” Mr Bywater said.

“They weren’t planning to buy but they just fell in love with the quality and the family lifestyle it offers.

“It’s obviously very special.”

The 1200sq m property was first listed for sale in May with price hopes of $2.9 million-$3.15 million.

Mr Bywater said, despite attracting interest, only a handful of people had budgets that stretched to the top end of the market.

There have been several multi-million sales in Rivergum Drive this year, with No. 60 fetching $1.4 million in July and No. 87 $1.065 million in October.

Mr Bywater said the popularity of the street was reinforced with the recent sale of a 1600sq m vacant block at 107-109 Rivergum Drive.

“We sold that for $670,000 in five days,” he said.
