An out-of-control bushfire is threatening lives and homes in the Shire of Beverley in Western Australia’s Wheatbelt, with an emergency warning issued.

The warning affects people south-east of Springhill Road, west of York-Williams Road and north of Westdale Road in parts of Dale.

The bushfire is moving fast in a south-easterly direction, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) said.

“It is out of control and unpredictable,” DFES said.

Residents have been told to leave their homes if the way is clear and it is safe.

The fire started near the intersection of Springhill Road and Cooke Road.

Motorists have been asked to avoid the area.

More to come.
