One of the world’s most exclusive cars — the Brabham BT 62 — will reportedly be built in Adelaide, in a factory near the former Holden site at Elizabeth.

According to reports from London, just seventy of the vehicles will be manufactured with buyers having to handover about $1.8m for one of the supercars.

The vehicle was launched at Australia House in London on Wednesday night.

Brabham Automotive is named after former Australian Formula One world champion Sir Jack Brabham.

The company’s director is the youngest of his sons, David Brabham.

The car has carbon-fibre bodywork and is powered by a 5.4 litre V8 engine producing 522 kW.

It is understood the company wants to race the car at the Le Mans 24 hour race.

The cars are expected to be ready for sale later this year and those who can afford the car will undergo a special driver program.

The South Australian Government has been contacted for comment.
