Animals, visitors evacuated as fire ignites at Chester Zoo in UK
A British zoo says a fire has broken out at one of its enclosures and that visitors are being evacuated.
Chester Zoo has tweeted that its teams are working to move all animals away from the blaze, which firefighters are working to extinguish.
Images and video of the zoo on Twitter showed thick black smoke and flames shooting out from a structure with a rounded roof.
The fire was sparked in the Monsoon Forest habitat, according to Chester Zoo’s Twitter account.
“Our response team is working alongside emergency services to bring the situation under control,” they tweeted.
The zoo is located about 25 kilometres south of Liverpool.
