16yo girl dead after pedestrians stuck by car in Esperance, police questioning teen driver

A car has struck a group of pedestrians on WA’s south coast, killing a 16-year-old girl.

Police are questioning a 19-year-old man over the incident at Monjingup, about 9 kilometres north of Esperance.

The crash happened at about 1:30am on Saturday on Davis Road.

The girl was taken to the Esperance Hospital, but later died.

Major Crash officers are investigating if speed was a factor in the crash.

Anyone with information relating to the incident or who saw a white utility in the area prior to the crash is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

Man killed in cliff crash

Meanwhile, a man died after the car he was a passenger in drove over a 20-metre cliff in WA’s Gascoyne region.

At about 3:30am on Saturday, police were told a vehicle had gone off the cliff at The Lagoon, 15km south of the Warroora Homestead.

Emergency services took the male driver and a female passenger to Coral Bay for treatment. They are being flown to Perth for further medical assistance.

A male passenger died at the scene.

Investigations are continuing.
